Of course the colours always vary slightly from batch to batch.
This is the beauty of natural dyes, how the colour variation brings depth and movement to the finished work.
We also supply un-dyed carded wool in light, medium and darker greys, white and black.
The wool is picked and washed by hand before going to the carders, this means there is a quantity of lanolin left in the wool.
We card it ourselves, first putting it through a mechanical picker a couple of times before the carding machine. This removes nearly all the vegetable matter
in the wool but there will be a few bits and pieces remaining. This is a 100% natural product after all.
The wool is very fine and soft, the first cut from the lambs is exceptionally downy. Loved by spinners all over because of a slightly longer staple than normal Finnish Landrace.
